Silken Fungus Beetle - Atomaria apicalis

Silken Fungus Beetle - Atomaria apicalis
Horner Park, Richmond Hill (N43º52'20.7"W079º24'45.6"elev.202m), York Region, Ontario, Canada
July 6, 2008
Size: 1 mm
Many of these were on a Giant Puffball (Calvatia gigantea). Looks like another Atomaria to me.

ID confirmed by Colin Johnson: A. apicalis

Thank you!
Thanks for all your help =v= and Christopher!

dziękuję bardzo, Krzyś
so nice having another one added to the guide
Moved from Atomaria.

Atomaria apicalis
This looks exactly like Atomaria apicalis Erichson, 1846. The name Atomaria ovalis Casey, 1900 is now a junior synonym of A. apicalis (Majka et al. 2010).

A. nebulosa vs ovalis

Okay...
Enough Atomaria from me...

no, man, don't stop -- they are sweet little things
...with a lot of potential [i mean, the diversity is huge, and your photo skills are getting better and better]

Well, I'll keep shooting.
The diversity is huge alright, but they all look the same to me, so I get the feeling that I'm shooting the same species over and over!
True, my photos are improving a bit, thanks.

you shoud look perhaps in diff. places...
...to appreciate how diverse they really are. some are skinny, some are chunky, and pronotal outlines vary a lot, e.g.

i'll be - - - if it's not an Atomaria
