Personal comment from Tony Thomas: "BG 200159 and ..160 look more like niger. I'm basing this on the eye pattern - a narrow long vertical stripe; in calvus it is more star-shaped".

Chrysops
This is Chrysops calvus Pechuman & Teskey. It is related to Chrysops niger, but differs in having the vertex and post vertex entirely shining.
