Echo Blues - Celastrina echo - male

Echo Blues - Celastrina echo - Male
Lakehead, Shasta County, California, USA
May 19, 2004
I'm unsure what species this is, but I never got around to looking either, so if someone knows please let me know! These were puddling around a lake in northern California along with California sisters and I beleive some checkerspots?

Moved from Echo Azure.

Echo Blues
These butterflies identified by Dr. David Wright as this species (22 Jan. '06)

My guess is
Spring Azure, Celastrina ladon. See Photos

OK for now
but quite different from the NE ladon. Part of the Spring Azure complex, we will have to wait for this group to be sorted out.
