This beetle very much resembles the abundant Cicindela repanda - Bronzed Tiger Beetles on the beach adjacent to the cliff but it seems different though. It is not hairy and its elytra seems smoother. Bronzed Tiger Beetles are vary active and will fly away from even an slow approach. This one allowed me to photograph it in very close proximity. Bronze Tiger Beetles also seem to prefer bright sunny areas and this cliff was completely in the shade.
