Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) - Agraulis incarnata

Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) - Agraulis incarnata
Bowling Green, Wintergarden/St. John's Nature Preserve, Wood County, Ohio, USA
July 2, 2008
Gulf Fritillaries are a very rare sight in Ohio, with only 3 or 4 verified records for the entire state, as I learned from the Ohio Lepidopterists organization. Bowling Green is located in the northwest portion of the state, only about an hour's drive from the Michigan state line.

Moved from Butterflies. Do you know you can post straight to species level images when the ID is not in question? Cool find!
