Possible Mis-IDd syrphid

The syrphid here: appears to not actually be in the genus Microdon! It may actually be in another even more rare genus of ant flies, Omegasyrphus.
Of course, I might be wrong, but it seems to be a perfect match for Images of Omegasyrphus in the Skevington and Locke field guide and it doesn’t really fit the general appearance of Microdon.

...BugGuide treats Omegasyrphus as a subgenus of Microdon. Perhaps our taxonomy is outdated. I'll be interested in seeing what the experts have to say.
