Is this even a bug? - Triops longicaudatus

Is this even a bug? - Triops longicaudatus

Maricopa County, Arizona, USA

Size: 1 inch
We found these guys swimming around in a shallow puddle formed by the recent rain (a puddle with small rocks and mud). We grabbed a few because we had never seen them before. I don’t even know if these are actually bugs; they might be crabs or something. But when I tried looking them up, I came up empty-handed, so I was hoping you guys would know what they are.
