scarab beetle, Lichnanthe sp. - Lichnanthe vulpina? - Lichnanthe rathvoni
Manila, Samoa Peninsula, Humboldt County, California, USA
July 14, 2008
Size: .75 inch (approx.)
I found a photo on this website of this species, scarab beetle, Lichnanthe sp. - Lichnanthe vulpina, that resembles the one we photographed today. Our specimen was leaner in build than the one shown in the New Hampshire photo already on bugguide.net.

Lichnanthe rathvoni --det. A.V. Evans
Moved from Lichnanthe.

genus is right, but
the fauna of CA has little in common with the eastern US - so different sp.
