butterfly ? moth? flies by day drinking nectar antennae is feathered, almost a sphinx but looks like atala hairstreak - Syntomeida ipomoeae
Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA
time of observation: midday full sun in pine rock land forest, exhibiting behaviors such as drinking nectar out of wand goldenrod covered in ambush bugs, despite it thin bladed wings it managed to move frequently and quickly from flower to flower, lack of awareness for general surroundings while engulfed in feeding; neither the ambush bug nor me being within inches of proximity raised any threat to retreat from the golden rod plant. Physical features such as theblack scales covering all areas are an iridescent reflection of hues of blue to aqua. Also the size is proportional of a silver dollar. the antennae exhibit black scales that reflect iridescent however it may be feathered, a feature often found in the Eumaeus Atala. Thanks for any suggestions offered.
