Hold on there, pardner. The truth is, I don't know lepidocera from lutea. I just checked out a picture and jumped to a conclusion. Please defer to those who are familiar with the Eastern fauna.

Saw the post indicating it may have been a misplacement and thought it an oversight. Have moved it back to lutea.

This cool fly is Lepidophora lepidocera (Bombyliidae). Lepidocera means "scale horn," referring to the scales on the antennae.

This is confusing. I was trying to figure which I had by comparing. Says this is L. lepidocera, but placed in L. lutea. Which is it?
