Dark Neotibicen specimen? - female

Dark Neotibicen specimen? - Female
Carroll County, Maryland, USA
August 13, 2021
Unusually dark Neotibicen specimen. I originally marked this as Neotibicen winnemanna/linnei, but the coloration is making me rethink it. I’ve never seen a specimen this dark on the abdomen. Specimen is dead, collected two days ago.

I collected this specimen as I usually would, kill jar with an acetone reservoir and a cardboard barrier.

I lean more towards canicularis as Hexapoda has mentioned. The thorax seems fairly compact and I can see pruinosity on the dorsum of the abdomen, which are consistent with canicularis rather linnei. The dark coloration might be due to the specimen being greasy or collected as semi-teneral. I would rule out winnemanna due to the presence of the black line on the ventral abdomen, but I am not sure about this one.

Canicularis can be this dark
Canicularis can be this dark sometimes, they also occasionally have the bend in the wing. Here's another dark individual with minimal pruinosity
