Hairy Chinch Bug - Blissus leucopterus

Hairy Chinch Bug - Blissus leucopterus
Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
August 14, 2021
This recently deceased chinch bug was found under a sofa cushion on a couple of friends' back porch while we were enjoying a lovely evening together. According to Leonard's 1968 revision of Northeastern Blissus, the presence of long, "straw-yellow" abdominal setae are characteristic of the species Blissus leucopterus, which has not yet been uploaded to BugGuide.net for the state of New Hampshire from the month of August.
