Ranchman's tiger moth - Arctia virginalis - Kaslo S. Rd., ~ 2.7 km SW of Mirror Lake, Central Kootenay, British Columbia, Canada June 18, 2008
The adults are reported to be diurnal insects. However, i only found them active at dusk and at night (females oviposited only at night). Males are very similar to the females, except they have thinner abdomens and short hair pencils on their valvae.
