Not sure about the ID but Acronicta inclara is synonymized with A. increta in Schmidt & Anweiler (2020) (1).

Yeah that ID isn't right. Not even sure how I got that one. If anything, this looks more like possibly a well worn Acronicta hamamelis, but certainly not inclara/increta.

Acronicta inclara
This looks like an Acronicta inclara to me. Although slighter worn and a lighter variation, all the diagnostic markings seem to be present. Nice photo.

Owlet Moth? Why am I having such trouble distinguishing between pyrlalid and owlet today? Is there one easy way to tell them apart?

This is an Acronicta species. Pyralid moths have long curved palps that will often stick up over the head.
