Stable Fly - Stomoxys calcitrans

Stable Fly - Stomoxys calcitrans
Polar Caves Park, Rumney, Grafton County, New Hampshire, USA
August 21, 2021
A small swarm of stable flies were found in association with captive European fallow deer (Dama dama). The park maintains a small heard which the public can feed and as the animals were out and about, stable flies were pestering them and perching on the enclosure fence.

While I've seen stable flies before in Hillsborough County, this was my first time able to photograph the haemophagous muscids.
