Collected from a Lindgren Funnel trap.
Elevation 700', GPS = 38.8198, -121.1173. Rural residential area with animals, oaks and conifers.

Keyed in Zdenek's key (1) to genus, some of the characters are.
-- Metatibia with apex almost perpendicularly truncate.
-- Marginal vein more or less on very margin of forewing.
-- Scutellum with apex rounded.
-- Postmarginal vein shorter than marginal vein.
-- Metafemur with 2 denticulate lobes.

Keyed to Hockeria unipunctatipennis in Halstead's key(2).
-- T1 polished and minutely punctate dorsally.
-- Forewing with a clear circular area containing a dense patch of white setae, enclosed within a brown clouded area.
-- Body partly or entirely red or orange.
-- Apex of ovipositor sheath with dorsal margin angled (not rounded).

Hockeria unipunctatipennis is not represented in the CA map area yet. I've picked up one in 2020 & 2021 in the funnel trap so far.
