Long-horned Bee on Tall Thistle - Melissodes desponsus - male

Long-horned Bee on Tall Thistle - Melissodes desponsus - Male
Junction City, 15 mi. SE, Bottomland Prairie Restoration, Geary County, Kansas, USA
August 22, 2021
Size: 3/8"
Could this be Melissodes desponsus, male? He was feeding on Tall Thistle (Cirsium altissimum) but he did not seem to be collecting pollen, except randomly. Also, the antennae are longer than those of the female you identified for me two years ago. So...I am thinking "male." The white plate on the face is striking as well as the love of thistles. Yay, thistles!
