Several of these black sphecids with long, pale setae covering themselves were seen feeding from the flowers of our Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum) and spearmint (Mentha spicata). What struck me as particularly interesting (and I'm sorry I didn't catch one for my collection) was that at least two of these wasps bore signs of being or having previously been parasitized by strepsipterans. This individual I'm posting her appeared to have a female embedded in her abdomen:
