which beetle ? - Cryptocephalus castaneus
Livermore, Alameda County, California, USA
July 17, 2008
Size: 1/4 "
This little guy was found on a bush leaf near a stream . Although the bush leaves were quite gnawed , I only found this one specimen . I thought that it was a tumbling beetle since it kept trying to tumble away ... my hand was ready . I thought that it was a odd little beetle with a strange eye shape and a thin shape . It has a nice distinguished color and pattern , so maybe someone can identify it . Thanks for any comments , sincerely Beth

We have some reasonably similar images
in the guide under Cryptocephalus castaneus here. We'll move this one to Chrysomelidae so Dr Watts can see it and comment.
