Leafroller caterpillar - Helcystogramma melantherella

Leafroller caterpillar - Helcystogramma melantherella
Kenner, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
July 17, 2008
So this is how they do it...

Any idea on the species?

I was limited on time but I was able to watch him/her repeat this process in about 6 places. The leaf was almost closed at the point and it was hard getting any more usable pictures...

Plant species?
Leaf rollers/tiers tend to be pretty host-specific, so if you know the plant species it may help an expert narrow down the options.

Very sorry...
I must have missed this comment.

I have no idea what plant this was on. It was found in an overgrown area in a clearing in the woods near a bayou. Many different plant growing there but I would say they are all weeds of some sort :(
