Which bee? - Protoxaea gloriosa - Male
Logan, Quay County, New Mexico, USA
August 24, 2021
Size: ~17.5 mm
This large bee caught my attention. On white flowers, with two other types of large spider wasps. TIA, for any ID/placement.

Male
The wing veins (hard to see) and the clubbed antennae are pointing to a type of a Miner Bee, maybe something like Glorious Protoxaea, Protoxaea gloriosa. Why are the eyes orange colored? Was it deceased?
For the subfamily Oxaeinae: "Clypeus protrudes from face. In males, the eyes converge near top, almost touching, pushing ocelli low on the face. Has the two subantennal sutures indicative of Andrenidae."

Thank you
for the ID. I only had an alcohol container with me at the time, guessing that is what affected the eyes.

OK
Sometimes the eyes are orange anyway. I'm glad that Dr. Ascher confirmed his ID, since I know very little about them.
