Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths. Although profundalis is more likely in Oregon, it appears that rubigalis does occur on the west coast and they are difficult to ID to separate to species based upon appearance alone. BugGuide does provide some ways to distinguish on appearance, but I am finding hard to apply those to these photos.

Ventral?
I find one other ventral photo of profundalis and have adjusted exposure to that image so you can see better detail, which matches the detail on my ventral image herein. Is there some way to post that adjusted image, vis-a-vis copyright?

Memory or lack thereof
Too many bugs, too many months. Yesterday I ran across Don Henise's darkened image on my computer (now added) and thought I had taken the photo so I submitted it as a new entry. This was immediately caught by the ever alert Bob Biagi as likely not my photo. I'm glad somebody knows what I'm doing here on BugGuide. In any event the similarities appear pretty comparable and I believe my submission here can safely be identified as Udea profundalis. ?
