PA-7 Peripsocidae? - Peripsocus subfasciatus

PA-7 Peripsocidae? - Peripsocus subfasciatus
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
September 1, 2021
Fairly dark wings, what I think is meant by the apical area of the forewing looks similar to the other two images, though this may be the best dorsal view. (The other two images are in Peripsocidae).

Late addition: The computer AI thinks this is Ectopscocus . But the wings look very sturdy. More so than the diaphragmous Ectopscocus wings, but I am just going on a feeling. Mainly, I meantion it because the AI is usually right, but I don't think has enough data to know Psocodea yet, as usual humans are better at making these calls.

Yes, it's true, but AI, for Artificial Intellegence
But is they say in the computer biz: Garbage in / Garbage out.

Still, you shouldn't be to hard on AI. It is common knowledge that they can read X-Rays, CT Scans, MRI's, and so on far than any human ever can or will ever be able to.

Thanks for the ID!

That was a typo ...
I meant AI. Tell me about that program, never heard about such a thing.

They have them on different sites...
There is one on iNaturalist which is an all things nature site. I have been big into birds lately, but anything from mushrooms, to native plants, reptiles and amphibians, mammals, starfish,...anything can be uploaaded. I wanted to see how they would do with insects. Better to make sure your location is entered first. Most people use GPS on their phones and cameras, but I don't use that and have to enter the location. Then comes the fun part you click on the species box, and it will give you the most likely suggestions. For Barklice it is terrible. Usually not even getting the order correct. But it is pretty good for birds. I just get a kick out of the fact that sometimes it will out of the blue correctly guess something very difficult. In the end it is humans who make the ideas, but it is sort of like watching a child learn. Will it grow up to be a PHD., or become a high-school drop out?

Apparently there is a phone app for e-bird, iNaturalist. I wrote a program years ago that could guess any animal if you answered questions about it. More of a game.

My experience is that Bugguide is far more accurate for all bugs. Since iNaturalist is a world wide site open to all species, you can imagine the difficulties. Birds, being very popular, and limited in number of species probably is one of their better categories. I would think wildflowers might be another. Definitely not Psocodea where the guesses can include anything. Hey, I should upload the computer screen Psocid! It just might know!

This is probably...
Peripsocus subfasciatus, female. This particular specimen is darker than most. Your "AL" needs more wisdom and experience!
