actually, "sp." can be corretly used only after the name of a genus, not suprageneric taxa

no; ssp. means 'subspecies' --not applicable in this context
should be just Scolytinae... OR 'scolytine' OR just 'bark beetle'
i know the practice of using the 'sp.' bit after any taxon name is pervasive -- and terrible, because that abbrteviation is used essentially in lieu of the indefinite article wherever they actually mean "a scolytine" or "weevil of some sort," nothing more
please note also that 'spp.' is plural and means multiple species
