In August I had the opportunity to watch a Great Golden Digger Wasp at work as it prepared a nest site next to a driveway. The photo series above was taken over an 8-minute span as the wasp closed up the nest site for the night. The next morning it opened up the nest to place more insects in the nest. I never did get a chance to see it bring in any insects but did get the chance to watch it at work as it excavated and filled in the nest.
