something in the tussock family? - Americerura scitiscripta
Richmond, Chesterfield County, Virginia, USA
June 12, 2005
Size: a little over an inch
I thought at first this might be the dreaded Gypsy moth, which would be a shame, because it is such a beautiful animal. But although my Audubon Field Guide matches it faintly, it doesn't look anything like the Gypsies on the guide here. Maybe there's hope!
