More on Rosalia
This beetle is also the emblem for Entomology at the University of Victoria, in British Columbia. This insect was selected as such by the great Dr. Richard A. Ring. Alumni wear their Rosalia t-shirts with pride at many entomological gatherings.

Pretty:-)
One of my all-time favorite insects. They are big, too, over an inch. Adults flock to fresh paint for reasons that still elude science, though the odor probably approaches that of freshly-cut alder or mountain ash, this insect's host plants.
