Robber
Certainly in the Laphrinae family. And I bet this is an Andrenosoma species. There are four in TX and three of those are found only in TX. I have seen only the non-endemic species and this is not it. Nice insect.

Andrenosoma igneum;
An uncommon fly in the U. S. - found only in Texas here - but widespread in eastern and southern Mexico.

Should have said Texas only and not endemic then. Are the other two species, corralium and xanthocnemum also in Mexico as well?
