All posts to date are from Florida. Do you keep these in your state? And how common are they there?

 
Hey Ron:
I had not realized that all posts are from Florida but according to records, this is where they are established. Apparently all other US records are listed as strays to other states, even South Texas! M. petreus is not uncommon as long as you look in the appropriate habitat so overall I would consider them to be scarce across South Florida. Their numbers do increase during this time of the year and as a result I have been encountering adults and larvae in my neighborhood.
