Carabid - Elaphropus vernicatus

Carabid - Elaphropus vernicatus
Woodford, Bennington County, Vermont, USA
July 10, 2008
Size: about 2mm

Thanks Peter
All these Elaphropus look the same in the field, but now I'm seeing that there are a number of species of these tiny beetles.

Elaphropus vernicatus
based on my microscopic examination of this specimen voucher. A black Elaphropus with 4 more or less distinct pale spots on elytra as shown. It is associated with ant nests. Thanks Tom.
