Leaf Beetle - Diachus

Leaf Beetle - Diachus
Woodford, Bennington County, Vermont, USA
July 10, 2008
Size: 2.5-3mm

Moved
Moved from Strawberry Rootworm.
Thanks for catching that, I have no idea why I moved it there.

Are you sure?
It looks a lot like Diachus auratus to me, especially because of the humps on the shoulders, because the thorax is not much thinner than the abdomen, and it is the right metallic color.

Moved
Moved from Eumolpinae.

Thanks Rob
I moved the one Stephen just posted to the species page.

Brachypnoea puncticollis
you found one too, there was just another entry for this species which is not yet in the guide
The small size, smooth edge of pronotum and antenna distiguish it from Rhabpoterus
puncticollis has elevated schoulders and punctures more or less in rows and is some more elongate than the commoner B. tristis

this one doesn't look like the other on this page
Rob IDed both as B. p., but this one has striae, no elevated rib back from the shoulder & otherwise looks very different. So i think it's this one that doesn't belong here. (Tom just posted another one)

I don't see any puncti on its collis either
;-)

Jim--
you're always there for me, i know :-]

Moved
Moved from Leaf Beetles.

Rhabdopterus, i daresay
