This is Quedius peregrinus. T
This is Quedius peregrinus. The head shape is what tipped me off..very long space after the eyes that is nearly straight. That and the orange-ish pronotum which can be darker on specimens, but seems to really stand out on live individuals.

From the quality of this photograph, I don't think its possible to identify this specimen to species. There are too many possibilities in the genus Quedius and its not possible to seethe shape of the clypeus or the chaetotaxy of the head.

But Chris, wouldn't you agree that the long length and straight-ness of the temples are unique to Q. peregrinus? Also, very few species have such an orange pronotum and darker body.

Staphylinidae: Staphylininae: Quediina: Quedius sp.
I keep thinking I will look in the collection and possibly get a name beyond genus for this, but it is not happening. Looks like a Quedius though. Really need the punctation of the head and pronotum to be in clear focus to be sure.
