Habronattus americanus - male

Habronattus americanus - Male
Blue Mountain/Deer Park, Olympic National Park, Clallam County, Washington, USA
July 19, 2008
Photographed near the peak of Blue Mountain, about 6,000 feet.
This small jumper was very active, leaping around in vegetation. I couldn't get very close to it.

Also see this site by Marshal C. Hedin, San Diego State University and Wayne P. Maddison, University of British Columbia, for a stunning photo.

From Rod Crawford
"This specimen almost certainly would be considered H.americanus in
current taxonomy, although the red on the first legs is something
different - possibly just a local population."

H. americanus
Is this the Rod Crawford who was at the University of Washington in the early 70s? If so, we crossed paths.

I'll be back on Blue Mountain at least once during the summer and will keep an eye peeled.

Yes,
that's the one. See The Burke Museum.
