Tiger Moth - Apantesis

Tiger Moth - Apantesis
Gene Howe WMA, Hemphill County, Texas, USA
September 26, 2021
Drawn in by a mercury vapor lamp set up behind the bunkhouse. I tried matching it to get a species ID but the pattern doesn't seem to exactly fit any of them, due to the thin, slightly broken line near the inner edge of the forewing and the three blotches adjacent to it. I presume this an example of pattern variability.

I don’t think so. I think it needs to be dissected for ID.

Not Surprised
This genus happens to be one of the variable ones, but it's no big deal. I'm sparing this one from dissection for the sake of my collection.

Can’t tell. Sorry.
