Agonum? - Atranus pubescens

Agonum? - Atranus pubescens
Dixville, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 15, 2008
Size: 7mm
Found under a rock along a small woodland stream.

Atranus pubescens
based on my microscopic examination of this voucher specimen. Agonum-like habitus with rather dense dorsal pubescence. Traditionally placed in tribe Platynini which I still prefer for purposes of BugGuide. Authority Yves Bousquet (pers com) recently placed it in its own tribe "Atranini". Thanks Tom.

Atranus pubescens
It sure looks right Atranus pubescens. But I can't find anywhere on the internet what subfamily or tribe it belongs to, so I don't know where to place the new species page.

yeah, that's the whole damn problem...
..w/the hierarchical structure of large groups, people use diff.systems and there's no consensus. you cam easily spend life trying to figure it all out. anyway, the guy is A*gonum's close kin, i.e. must be in Platynini...
