Pointed-winged Fly - Lonchoptera

Pointed-winged Fly - Lonchoptera
Lacey (near Olympia), Thurston County, Washington, USA
July 14, 2008
This little fellow landed on a blade in the shade while I was taking pics of leafhoppers. I snapped a quick pick of ?her? head on, and then went to circle around and get a side shot. Of course, it flew off. Doesn't look like normal fly type eyes or face somehow. I know it's a longshot, but does anyone have any ideas on this critter??

Lonchoptera sp.
John Klymko: probably the common L. bifurcata, but there are similar-looking species in the west.
