Identification
Female Leucostomatini have conspicuous cerci used as claspers(3) Leucostoma is distinguished from other North American genera by M intersecting R4+5 far from wing margin.
Range
worldwide (except Oriental region)(4), incl. most of NA(2)
Food
recorded hosts include members of various heteropteran families (Lygaeidae, Rhopalidae, Coreidae, Nabidae) and a grasshopper(2)
Remarks
Two easily distinguished species (in one sex) are L. simplex with male abdomen completely shining and L. aterrimum with the female abdomen greatly elongated.
