Isoparce cupressi?
Isoparce cupressi? They feed on bald cypress, but if yours was found on the ground, it is probably looking for a place to pupate.

 
It was climbing a white wall
It was climbing a white wall of a shed, and there are plenty of Cypress trees 10 feet away, and surrounding an adjacent pond. Have provisioned a covered bowl, in hopes that it may pupate. But might need to add some dirt, so it can burrow?

Adding some moist, but not wet dirt certainly will help.

 
cocoon
Got it to burrow into some moist mulch and form a cocoon. Now waiting for see the nondescript moth to emerge. Will send a picture if you email me, if you are interested
