They feed on bald cypress, but if yours was found on the ground, it is probably looking for a place to pupate.

It was climbing a white wall
It was climbing a white wall of a shed, and there are plenty of Cypress trees 10 feet away, and surrounding an adjacent pond. Have provisioned a covered bowl, in hopes that it may pupate. But might need to add some dirt, so it can burrow?

Got it to burrow into some moist mulch and form a cocoon. Now waiting for see the nondescript moth to emerge. Will send a picture if you email me, if you are interested
