Frit Fly - Chlorops - female

Frit Fly - Chlorops - Female
Lacey (near Olympia), Thurston County, Washington, USA
June 23, 2008
Any chance of taking this little guy further than family level?

Moved
Moved from Grass Flies.

Chlorops
I'm 90% certain of the genus on this one (a couple of characters are a bit hard to see). There are a lot of species of Chlorops in North America, and the shape of the stripes on the thorax may well be a species-level character.

Looks like
Subfamily Chloropinae and that is as far as I can go.

thanks Ted
I figured I pretty wouldn't get far, but some part of me was hoping those teardrop shaped stripes were different (and differentiating!). All my other frit flies just had straight racing stripes. :)
*sigh*
