6024397 - Atomosia melanopogon

6024397 - Atomosia melanopogon
Falcon CP, Texas, USA
May 18, 2007
Size: ~1/2"

Moved from Atomosia.

Look at the wing tips
towards the center: You see two veins come together just before they reach the margin. That identifies this as Atomosia melanopogon. I notice that A. melanopogon tends to rest with its wings slightly apart, which makes it easy to see this character.

Moved from Robber Flies.

In the dark-legged group. Probably A. puella.
