Moved
Moved from ID Request.

A bit of irony exists on species ID. We only have 4 described species in the area, but insofar as I'm aware, there exists no key at this point. At least a few of the species are noted to be variable in coloration as well so are most reliably identified in terms of punctation on the thorax. So even with just 4 species, species are rather difficult to ID in photos.

The widespread species is M. stygia (likely corresponding to at least most BG images with a black head and abdomen). The other species that's reported from Florida is Methocha formosa. It's described in Krombein (1954). The very dense silvery hairs on the mesopleuron seems to align with the description: "It it separated by the described North American females by a combination of the compact ocellar triangle, flat front [of the head, between the eyes], head strongly narrowed behind the eyes, profile of thorax, dense silvery hair on mesopleuron, and lack of parallel oblique rugulae on sides of propodeum". This was prior to the description of M. impolita 4 years later, also by Krombein.

Thynnid?
looks like this one: Methocha

Definitely
a typhiid, as the thorax is divided into 3 segments... waiting to hear from George for hopefully a species

I’ll ask someone
