Two Tiger Beetles - Cicindelidia haemorrhagica - male - female

Two Tiger Beetles - Cicindelidia haemorrhagica - Male Female
Livermore, Alameda County, California, USA
July 24, 2008
Size: up to 1/2"
Having found Tiger beetles in my home town this week which I had never seen before has been exciting since they are strangely interesting . I entered one a few days ago and it is identified as Cicindella hemorrhagia . They do have a reddish color under the wings hence the " hemorrhagia " . I thought this was an interesting photo as it has both sexes . The male is using his fangs to hold the female which is interesting and also the way they are upright holding onto the grass . You can frass this if it is not useful , thanks for any comments , sincerely Beth
