Spruce Spittlebug
That's a new one for me, and there were a lot of spruce trees where I found this one. Thanks Andy.

Aphrophora parallella
The spruce spittlebug - a darker species than the similar A. saratogensis (which feeds on pines).

For many years, the name Aphrophora parallela [sic] was misapplied to the pine spittlebug, A. cribrata.
