Genus Pococera - Pococera - male

Genus Pococera - Pococera - Male
1.3 miles NW of Camp Wood, Edwards County, Texas, USA
June 18, 2018
Size: WS apx 18mm
P. aplastella OR P. tiltella

This one certainly fits the Genus confusion category! It can be seen in Bin BOLD:AAH4844 as TXLEP620-18. When the BOLD engine matches are less than 1% different they are usually considered to be species matches. This specimen was matched at 8 different levels from 100% (1) to 99.23% to P. aplastella. Many in the BIN are from Mark Dreiling in Oklahoma, but not all of his were named to species. ONE 99.23% match was to Ed Knudson's P. tiltella from Hidalgo.

Again, James McDermott said that he thought I COULD have P. tiltella. He also said they were lighter and grayer in coloration. He sees them a lot in the Dallas area. However, this is the only specimen I have sent to BOLD out of 33 specimens that has received even a MENTION of matching either of these species. SOOOOO this one is at least different from all the rest and has a few characteristics in the dissection that I have not seen before.
