Appears much paler than normal and with a white head/face. Here is similar pale one from nearby but with the 'normal' black body .
Or perhaps something is covering the head? If so, quite the coincidence. Only one photo before it flew. Trichodezia albovittata (White-striped Black) was first guess. Another possibility, Heliothodes diminutiva, appears too small.

Thanks for the comment. I hesitated to suggest anything else as I'm not aware of any. As you likely noticed the white stripe only extends part way across the forewing but is present on the rear wing. The only other possibility I've managed to find searching around is , . This is found in the Pacific NW but appears to be too small.
