Lobophora magnoliatoidata or L. montanata? - Perizoma

Lobophora magnoliatoidata or L. montanata? - Perizoma
northwest of La Veta, Huerfano County, Colorado, USA
July 8, 2021
7200', pinyon/juniper/oak. Came to MV light.

Moved
Moved from Perizoma oxygramma.

BOLD has three bins for that species and they range from CA to CO. (BOLD:ACG0839, BOLD:AAE6459, BOLD:AAU0925) I remember thinking that it's going to be hard to separate oxygramma from costiguttata, by visual characters.
The range for oxygramma on MPG shows almost the same thing as on BOLD.

Range
MPG included the AZ and CO records from BugGuide. Now that they have been moved, I can remove them from MPG. There is no point in removing a BugGuide record from MPG unless it is changed at BG first. It would just reappear with the next data synch. I am also removing the LepSoc record from NM.

BTW - The NA species in Perizoma are misplaced and likely refer to more than one genus. It may turn out that the images you just moved may have nothing to do with oxygramma which in turn may have nothing to do with costiguttata, though I would bet that they all do. I do, however, think that nothing identified at BOLD as oxygramma is correct.

Perizoma oxygramma
Thanks so much. Pam

Also out of range
The type locality of Perizoma oxygramma is Havila, CA, and the type locality of its synonym tahoensis Barnes & McDunnough is Lake Tahoe, CA. BOLD records from Colorada are all in BIN BOLD:ACG0839 and may represent misidentifications of a cryptic, possibly undescribed species. Oddly, there is only one CA specimen and it barcodes as costiguttata. There is also an AZ record at BOLD but it also appears to represent a cryptic species.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

Sometimes it may be difficult to separate this from Perizoma costiguttata and Perizoma curvilinea. However, I'm not sure if those species are found in Colorado.
