Unidentified wasp - Any guesses? - Dielis plumipes - male

Unidentified wasp - Any guesses? - Dielis plumipes - Male
Meggett, SC, near lantana and a tidal creek, Charleston County, South Carolina, USA
July 25, 2008
Size: ~2cm? fairly large
Quite a few of these around, many hovering and exhibiting what I interpreted as territorial behavior. This particular one flew OK, but seemed to have trouble perching on the plant stalk. The stripes were nearly white. Possibly also the same species as a couple shots of one working on a lantana blossom that I submitted a few minutes ago. Any help with an ID would be greatly appreciated, I've given up after several hours of close-but-not-quites...

Moved from Campsomeris.

Male scoliid wasp.
This is a male scoliid wasp, probably in the genus Campsomeris, and possibly the same species as the female in your other images:-)

Thanks a ton, Eric, for the ID and moving them to the right place. Thanks also for not commenting on my original size notation of "2m? fairly large"
