Neat Bee - Merodon equestris

Neat Bee - Merodon equestris
Winthrop Harbor, Lake County, Illinois, USA
June 25, 2008
Size: 1 inch

Those look more like fly antennae to me.

Definitely a fly
Some sort of syrphid; wish I could tell you more.
