Fulgoroid - Bothriocera transversa

Fulgoroid - Bothriocera transversa
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Key Biscayne, Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA
November 11, 2021
Found among the shallow leaf litter accumulated within the tree stands between the picnic area and the recreational beach that stretches along the park's southeastern tip. The leaves are mostly those of beach grapes, Coccoloba uvifera , and this insect appeared to be feeding on the fine plant roots that permeate the surface soil just beneath the shallow leaf litter.
