Colfax-J.2021-11 - Leptomantispa pulchella

Colfax-J.2021-11 - Leptomantispa pulchella
Colfax, Placer County, California, USA
June 26, 2021
Size: 8.5 mm
Collected by Glen Forister in U.V. light trap. Keyed using "Mantispidae of Mexico" (Reynoso-Velasco & Contreras-Ramos), and with comments on the Bugguide "info" page. Pretty sure it's Leptomantispa pulchella. Head with vertex concave & only 1 fore-tarsal claw (Mantispinae); Antenna flagella at midlength less than 3x as long as wide & pronotum with a mesoscutal furrow; Pronotum with scattered fine setae in lateral view over whole length arising at level of pronotal surface. Then the key splits to either Xeromantispa or Leptomantispa. Not completely sure here, but the Bugguide info page points to Leptomantispa with the pronotum not having transverse ridges. A wing photo in "Mantispidae of Mexico" also suggests Leptomantispa. Confirmation and placement appreciated !
